Report: Former Highland County resident was murdered in Puerto Rico
A new report from WKRC TV 12 in Cincinnati reveals that former Highland County resident Tyler Wilkin was murdered in Puerto Rico.
Wilkin, 35, moved to San Juan in January 2024.
Born in Wilmington, Tyler was the son of Samuel Wilkin and Rita Storts.
According to reports, he was camping alone in a remote part of Puerto Rico called Playa la Selva. A person taking a sunrise walk on July 10 found his body. Police say he was executed at close range.
"Wilkin's father in Hillsboro is a cousin of Ohio State Sen. Shane Wilkin, who asked Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson to check in on the investigation," WKRC reported. "Wilson told the senator that police 'weren't super helpful in any way, shape or form. I think it's a cultural difference as far as how law enforcement is done.'"
