Rep. Bob Peterson highlights start of Ohio’s fall hunting season

COLUMBUS – State Representative Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) is pleased to share that the month of September officially marks the beginning of Ohio’s fall hunting season.
 
“As Ohio’s fall hunting season begins, we celebrate a time-honored tradition that brings families together and supports wildlife conservation,” said Rep. Peterson. “I wish all hunters a safe, successful and responsible season.”
 
The Ohio 2025 hunting season opening dates are as follows:
 
September 1, 2025

Squirrel (fox, red, and gray)
Dove
Rail (Virginia and sora)
Snipe
Gallinule.
 
September 6, 2025

Early Canada goose (through Sunday, September 14)
Early teal (blue-winged and green winged; through Sunday, September 14).
 
September 27, 2025

Deer Archery
 
Additionally, House Bill 64 – legislation championed by members of the Ohio House Majority Caucus – lowers the age to 65 for Ohioans to qualify for senior discounts on hunting, fishing, and other sportsmen licenses. The bill takes effect on September 30th, just in time for deer hunting season.
