Paramedics called to common pleas courtroom

Paramedics were called to the Highland County Common Pleas Courtroom Thursday after a defendant awaiting pretrial on drug charges experienced the symptoms of a heart attack.
According to Judge Rocky Coss, Alan Elmore, 51, is currently "serving a sentence in prison for drug offenses."
A few minutes prior to the hearing, Coss said, Elmore, "complained of feeling like he was having a heart attack. EMTs were called, they felt he should be transported to the hospital and they moved him before the hearing actually started."
Elmore was in court Thursday for a hearing stemming from a November 2009 grand jury indictment. According to court documents, he is facing one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, a felony of the first degree; illegal assembly or possession of chemicals used in the manufacture of drugs, a felony of the third degree; aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a felony of the fifth degree; possession of criminal tools, a felony of the fifth degree.
As he is serving prison time, Coss said Elmore remains in the custody of the Highland County Sheriff's Office.
Elmore's attorney is Lee Koogler, who told The Highland County Press that his client was admitted to the Ohio State University Medical Center Thursday afternoon.
Coss said that court was help for only a few minutes while paramedics transported Elmore from the scene. "We were just getting ready to go in the case when it happened."[[In-content Ad]]
