OVI checkpoint by OSHP Wilmington nets zero arrests

WILMINGTON – The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted an OVI checkpoint on U.S. 62, in Washington Court House, Fayette County. The checkpoint occurred on Aug. 7 from 9-11 p.m. 

A total of 310 vehicles were checked, none of which were diverted for suspicion of OVI. A saturation patrol of the surrounding area, conducted in conjunction with the checkpoint, resulted in no impaired motorists being arrested and charged with OVI. 

The Wilmington Post was assisted with the checkpoint by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington Court House Police Department, and the Ohio Department of Transportation. 

Federal grant money supported the OVI checkpoint and saturation.
