The Ohio Association of REALTORS will be hosting a press conference and rally for housing at the Ohio Statehouse, starting at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, in conjunction with the National Association of REALTORS, Ohio lawmakers and other representatives from the real estate industry.
Policy makers are considering changes to government programs and incentives that could drastically change the nature of home ownership in this country.
Initiatives such as eliminating the Mortgage Interest Deduction, curtailing FHA loan programs and requiring down payments of 20 percent are being given serious consideration. The Rally will address how changes to any of these programs will impact the lives of Ohio residents.
The REALTORS Home Ownership Matters Bus, which is traveling across the country promoting the value and benefits of owning a home, will be making its Ohio debut at the event. The bus gives people the opportunity and resources to make their voice heard about the housing issues that matter most to them. Ongoing news and information for the tour will be posted at www.houselogic.com/bus.
Expected speakers include:
1. Meg Hudson, President, Ohio Association of REALTORS.
2. Steve Brown, 2012 First Vice President, National Association of REALTORS.
3. Mark Braunsdorf, President, Building Industry Association of Central Ohio.
4. Cynthia Flaherty, Ohio Housing Finance Agency.
