NWS issues extreme cold warning

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme cold advisory for Highland and surrounding counties for Jan. 19-22.

Dangerously cold temperatures as low as zero to 5 degrees below zero and wind chill values as low as 10 to 15 degrees below zero are possible.

The advisory area includes portions of southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and central, south central, and southwest Ohio, from late Sunday night through Wednesday morning.

Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap, drain, or allow them to drip slowly.
