"Miracle on the Hudson" survivor to speak at Wilmington College, SSCC

“Miracle on the Hudson” US Airways Flight 1549 crash survivor Dave Sanderson will be speaking at Wilmington College on Wednesday, March 24 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Sanderson grew up in Highland County. He attended James Madison University graduating in 1983. Sanderson has over 22 years' experience in sales, marketing and management with such firms as Marriott, ADP, KPMG, CIBER, Keane and now Oracle Corporation. Sanderson is responsible for the sales and marketing of Oracle Corporation’s application sets for the Southeast Consumer Products, Retail and Distribution practice.

On Jan. 15, 2009, while on business travel, Sanderson was on US Airways Flight 1549 that made an emergency landing in the Hudson River. Sanderson was the last passenger of the 155 on board to leave the plane. To date, Sanderson has had 83 speaking engagements throughout the United States and speaks passionately about the work of the American Red Cross. He credits the first responders, including the Red Cross, as the real heroes that saved the day for the passengers and crew.

Sanderson is speaking in conjunction with the Clinton County Red Cross Heroes campaign. To make a donation to the campaign, you may make a check out to Wilmington College with “Red Cross” in the memo line.

Sanderson will be speaking in Pyle Center, Dining Room C&D, beginning at 11:30 a.m. For campus faculty, students & staff who do not have a meal plan, simply sign in at the door and your meal will be covered by the Center for Service & Civic Engagement. For off-campus guests, the cost is $7.22 at the door.
Sanderson has also agreed to speak at Southern State Community College's Central Campus at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium.
