Man sustained serious injuries after vehicle pins him to wood chipper
A member of a tree trimming crew was transported by helicopter with severe injuries after a car crash left the man pinned between a vehicle and a wood chipper.
According to Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward, at approximately 2:16 p.m. Wednesday on Main Road, just south of the intersection at State Route 124, a tree trimming crew was working in the area of the roadway.
"A vehicle came over the hill crest, and a member of the tree trimming crew was standing behind a wood chipper," Ward sad. "He was pinned between the car and the wood chipper, and sustained severe injuries."
Ward said the victim was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
"I would call the injuries critical," Ward said.
The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and further information was not immediately available.
Ward said the Highland County Sheriff's Office assisted during the incident with traffic control and setting up a landing zone for the helicopter.
