A Lynchburg man has pleaded guilty to sexual battery and corruption of a minor in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

Cledus D. Lamb, 48, was indicted in 2009 on two charges of rape, felonies of the first degree; one charge of kidnapping, a felony of the first degree; and one charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony of the third degree.

The charges stemmed from incidents that were alleged to have taken place in October 1996 and the spring of 1998, when the victim was 15 years old.

Highland County Prosecutor Jim Grandey said Lamb pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery and one count of "what was known in 1996 as corruption of a minor."

The remaining charges were dismissed as a result of the plea agreement.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Lamb to five years in prison on the battery count and one year in prison on the corruption of a minor charge, according to Grandey.

"The victim was in court and she was pleased with what happened today," Grandey said.
