Local residents encouraged to fill out census forms

By
-
Mayor Dick Zink, the Highland County Commissioners, and Sheriff Ron Ward would like to encourage local residents to complete the 2010 Census information.
The amount of funding that the Federal Government allows each city, county, and state is based on the number of residents in that particular entity. These funds are used for forecasting future transportation needs, health services, Head Start programs, road rehabilitation and construction, programs for the elderly, and Title I grants for school districts; applying grant monies allowed for special projects to help keep taxes down; and reapportioning seats in the House of Representatives.
Please take 10 minutes to complete the confidential Census questions to help your community in many different ways.
