Local Elks Lodge equips over 120 students for school year
Hillsboro Lodge No. 361 members Dara Gullette and Bruce Miles help distribute backpacks and supplies during the back-to-school drive.
To help local youth start the academic year on the right foot, Hillsboro Lodge No. 361 hosted a Back-to-School Backpack & Supply Drive at the Hillsboro City Schools open house on August 6.
Elk lodge members Dara Gullette, Bruce Miles, and Dan Spidel were on hand to directly distribute brand-new backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies to students attending the Hillsboro City School District. In addition, supplies were delivered separately to serve students at Hillsboro Christian Academy. Altogether, the initiative provided over 120 elementary and middle school students with the gear needed for a successful year ahead.
The drive is part of the Elks’ ongoing commitment to investing in local youth and easing the financial burden on area families as classes resume.
"Our members always look forward to this event," said lodge member Bruce Miles. "Seeing the excitement on the kids' faces as they pick out their gear makes it all worth it. We are proud to support our local students and give back to the Hillsboro community whenever we can."
Hillsboro Lodge No. 361 extends its gratitude to all the community members and volunteers who supported this drive, making the effort a continued success.
