LaRose urges voters to prepare for May 6 primary

With early voting set to begin in just one week, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is reminding voters of important dates and deadlines for the upcoming May 6 primary election. Early in-person voting kicks off on Tuesday, April 8, offering Ohioans ample opportunities to make their voices heard before Election Day.

“Ohioans take great pride in shaping the future of their communities at the ballot box,” said LaRose. “Whether you vote early in person, absentee by mail, or on Election Day, the most important thing is to make a plan and participate.”

In addition to local races and ballot initiatives, voters across Ohio will decide on State Issue 2, a measure proposed by a bipartisan joint resolution of the Ohio General Assembly. If passed, Issue 2 would authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds to fund public infrastructure capital improvements.

Key Election Deadlines:

• Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, April 7, 2025;

• Early In-Person Voting Begins: Tuesday, April 8, 2025; and

• Election Day: Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Ohioans who need to register to vote or update their registration must do so by Monday, April 7. Registration is easy and efficient and can be completed online, by mail, or in person at county boards of elections.

“Don’t wait until the last minute: register today, make your plan and be ready to vote,” LaRose added.
