Kelsey Sheeley announces
‘Cattlemen Care’ program
Kelsey Sheeley, the 2010 Highland County Beef Queen, is pleased to announce that she is initiating the “Cattlemen Care” program for Highland County.
Participants in the Cattlemen Care program may buy a gift card at Kroger, then turn the card in at the service counter to donate it to the Cattlemen Care program. Another option is to purchase a gift certificate from Hunter Meats in Marshall and designate that it goes to the Cattlemen Care program. Sheeley will collect the gift cards, buy food items, and distribute them to local families in need before Christmas.
“All donations are greatly appreciated,” Sheeley said, adding that she came up with the idea of a food drive as a way to give back to the community during her time as beef queen.
As Highland County beef queen, Sheeley is a representative of the Highland County Cattlemen’s Association.
Representing Highland County, she will be competing for the title of 2011 Ohio beef queen in January at the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association convention.
At the competition, she will present a speech explaining how today’s youths shape the future of the beef industry. She will also participate in radio spots and interviews as well as other beef promotion activities.
Sheeley is a senior at Hillsboro High School and the daughter of Tim and Karen Sheeley of Hillsboro.
She is a member of the Hillsboro FFA, where she serves as reporter, and is the president of the Marshall Stockmen 4-H Club.
