Jill Yochum guest speaker at Board of Realtors meeting

Jill Yochum, an associate with Prudential Chambers Realty in Hillsboro, was the guest speaker of the June 24 meeting of the Highland County Board of Realtors.
Yochum, a certified mediator, discussed business ethics in real estate and the differences between mediation and arbitration. She described the National Association of Realtors (www.realtor.org) mediation initiative.
"Mediation is a win-win because you are going to come to a resolution and it won't cost you. Mediation also helps improve relationships," Yochum said. "You can work toward a resolution without going to court. If you decide against mediation and go straight into arbitration, you can't go back to mediation. If you don't like the arbitration ruling, that's tough."
Yochum also reminded members and affiliates of the July 22 RPAC (Realtor Political Action Committee) auction, raffle and the duck race challenge between members and affiliates. Joe Mahan is leading the duck race team for the Realtors and Jessica Bivins of the Susan Davis law firm is heading up
the affiliates' team.
