James Carter of Hillsboro High School won this year's Four-Way Speech Contest sponsored by the Hillsboro Rotary Club.
Carter's speech detailed the different types of alcoholism and its effects on society.
Other finalists in the annual contest included Diana Barrett of Fairfield High School and Samantha Feldman of Hillsboro High School.
All speeches included applications of the Rotary Four-Way Test:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
The mission of Rotary International, a worldwide association of Rotary clubs, is to provide service to others, to promote high ethical standards, and to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
