For the second time in four months, a woman has been seen taking copies of The Highland County Press from Great Scot Supermarket in Hillsboro. At 12:02:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at least two Great Scot employees witnessed a woman removing all copies of the Feb. 13 edition of The Highland County Press from the store. A store security camera video shows a woman entering the store, walking directly toward the newspapers, then turning around and leaving the store. The woman did not make any purchases nor did she take any other publications.
According to two employees, the woman took all the copies of The Highland County Press. A similar theft occurred at Great Scot on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009. The woman is described as medium height, perhaps 5-5 or 5-6, weighing possibly 160 to 175 pounds, with dark, straight hair, that's not too long. She was wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored jacket with "ARMY" in gold lettering on the back, according to a Great Scot employee.
Employees said she was seen leaving the Great Scot parking lot in a red and/or maroon-colored Ford pickup truck, with white trim. The truck had an extended cab. The theft has been reported to Hillsboro Chief of Police Nick Thompson and a request for the security video has been made to the home office of Great Scot. "We take these thefts of The Highland County Press very seriously," said Publisher Rory Ryan. "Not only is this woman stealing from us, she is also stealing from those who trust us to publish their news and advertisements."
Anyone with information about this woman is asked to call the Hillsboro Police Department at (937) 393-3411 or The Highland County Press at (937) 840-9490.[[In-content Ad]]
