HPD investigates crash at Peebles

No injuries were reported when a pickup truck allegedly struck the front entrance area of Peebles Department Store in Hillsboro during Black Friday shopping hours.

    According to a report from the Hillsboro Police Department, the department, along with Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, responded to the one-vehicle crash at 1100 North High Street in Hillsboro Friday at approximately 10:26 a.m.

    Upon investigation is was determined that Bodhi A. Hawkins, 19, of Hillsboro "went to accelerate the 1996 Ford pickup truck that he was operating," according to the HPD. "Hawkins indicated the accelerator stuck. The vehicle struck the front of the Peebles store, causing significant damage to the building and functional damage to the Hawkins vehicle, that is owned by Carl Hawkins of Hillsboro."
