Hillsboro resident continues
tradition of Christmas display
For the past several years, Hillsboro resident Gordon W. Yuellig has placed a manger and nativity display outside the Highland County Courthouse in uptown Hillsboro.
Mr. Yuellig had approached former members of the Highland County Board of Commissioners and asked if he could buy and place on the courthouse lawn a nativity display.
Commissioners approved the request, since he was an “individual and not a part of a religious group.”
Since then, Mr. Yuellig, 92, annually places the nativity on the courthouse square and carefully watches it to make sure the lights are on
and the figures remain in their proper place.
