May 9
Jonah Just, 21, of Bainbridge was cited for driving while texting.
On May 7 at 2:04 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call of a 2-car crash Westbound on Chillicothe Avenue nearing the intersection with Bowers Avenue. Benjamin Smith, 42, of Troy, began to slow down to make at left turn onto Bowers Avenue when Travis Ross, 21, of Bainbridge failed to slow down and veered to the right while applying the brakes to avoid a collision. Ross failed to slow down in time and struck Smith in a rear end type collision. Ross endured disabling damage and Smith sustained functional damage. No injuries were reported on scene. Ross was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
On May 8 at 10:27 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call of a 2-car crash in the area of Catherine Street and North High Street. Mark Baker, 80, of Bainbridge was stopped at the stop sign on Catherine Street waiting to make a right turn on to North High Street. Diane Smith, 74, of Seaman was traveling Northbound on North High Street and began to make a left turn onto Catherine Street as Baker started his right turn causing Smith to strike him in the front driver side headlight area. Baker suffered disabling damage and Smith sustained minor damage. Minor injuries were reported on scene. Smith was cited for rules for turns at intersection.
On May 8 at 9:58 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call of a 2-car crash in the 100 block Chillicothe Avenue. Shania Thompson, 29, of Hillsboro, was leaving private property in the 100 block of Chillicothe Ave while Katherine Carter, 77, of Hillsboro was traveling eastbound on Chillicothe Ave. Thompson struck Carter in the passenger side door as she was attempting to enter the roadway causing damage to the passenger side and front end of Carter’s vehicle. No injuries were reported on scene. Thompson was cited for right of way on public highway.
