The Hillsboro Police Department has arrested Gerald R. Williams, 49, of Hillsboro on charges of trafficking in drugs, possession of heroin, receiving stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon.
On Sunday, Aug. 21 at 6:21 p.m., officers received a citizen's complaint of a suspicious vehicle, with several people walking up to the vehicle for a short time, then walking away.
Upon investigation, officers located the vehicle and stopped it for a traffic violation. Officers received information regarding an outstanding warrant and found two subjects with warrants at a specified location. Officers also found drug paraphernalia at this residence.
After receiving information on alleged drug trafficking, officers arranged to set up a purchase of heroin through an informant. When the transaction was established, officers found a package of heroin and a handgun under the vehicle's seat. After checking the serial number on the gun, it was determined to be a stolen handgun.
Williams was charged and incarcerated at the Highland County Justice Center and will appear in Hillsboro Municipal Court on Aug. 22.[[In-content Ad]]
