Hillsboro law director resigns

Two months after the resignation of Hillsboro Safety and Service Director Brianne Abbott, Hillsboro Law Director Randalyn C. Worley has also resigned.

In a letter to Hillsboro Mayor Justin Harsha and members of city council, Worley said her resignation was effective Sept. 5.

"On behalf of the city of Hillsboro, I would like to thank Randalyn for her service to the city and wish her well in her future endeavors," Mayor Harsha said.

"It has been a profound privilege to serve the City of Hillsboro in the capacity of director of law," Worley said. "I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and for the opportunity to contribute to the legal and civic integrity of this community.

"Throughout my tenure, I have navigated both the challenges and triumphs inherent in public service. While there have been moments of complexity and adversity, I take great pride in the progress that has been achieved and the foundational work that has been laid for the future. I remain confident in the strength and resilience of Hillsboro’s leadership and community. It is my sincere hope that the city continues to move forward with vision, unity and purpose. I extend my best wishes for its ongoing success and prosperity."

Hillsboro’s representatives on the Highland County Republican Central Committee appointed Worley as the law director for the City of Hillsboro during a special meeting Feb. 21, 2022.

In July, Harsha announced the transition in the city’s safety and service director position, expressing his deep gratitude to Abbott, whose resignation is effective Sept. 12, after serving the city with distinction since 2020. 

Harsha also announced that Shawn Adkins has been appointed as the new safety and service director, effective Sept. 15.
