Hillsboro City Council member Rod Daniels, a member of the 15th psychological operations of the National Guard, has been deployed into service overseas.

Daniels told The Highland County Press that he is leaving this week, but cannot say what country he is headed to.

“There’s nothing I can disclose,” Daniels said. “Even the length of time of the trip has a dependency on where we’re going and what they need.”

Daniels said that he will be able to take his cell phone and will be able to respond to email while he is away.

Council President Lee Koogler said that Daniels informed the clerk of council last week that he was being deployed, and Koogler said that he will investigate any move that council may need to take during the absence.

“I hope that everyone continues to try hard and keep working in-house, while me and some other guys are working outside to try and make things better,” Daniels said.

Daniels had been a Republican candidate for mayor of Hillsboro in the spring 2011 primary election.[[In-content Ad]]
