Hillsboro council schedules special meeting

Hillsbor0 City Council president Lee Koogler has scheduled a special council meeting for Thursday, June 24 at 5 p.m. in council chambers. The meeting is for the purpose of conducting the city's June business, after council failed to have enough members to open the regular June 14 council meeting.
According to the agenda, council will address the following:
1. To award a Citizen of the Month
2. A request from the Festival of the Bells Committee regarding the Old City Building
3. A resolution for the transfer of Various Funds(General Fund Healthcare to General Fund Small Tools)
4. A Resolution for the Transfer of Various Funds (General Bond Retirement Other to General Fund buildings/Structures)
5. An Ordinance Regarding Dangerous Property and/or Structures and the Inspection, Repair or Removal Thereof
6. A Resolution to Authorize Previously Funded Modifications to the Waste Water Treatment Plant Project
7. A Resolution to Authorize Previously Funded Modifications to the Waste Water Treatment Plant Project with ICS, Inc
8. A Resolution to Authorize the Mayor to Contract for the Sale of the Old City Building
On June 14, Koogler said he had anticipated that council members Bill Alexander and Bonnie Parr would be on vacation. However council members Mary Brown Turner and Dave Shoemaker were also not in attendance.
Council needs four voting members to call a meeting to order, according to Hillsboro Law Director Fred Beery. The only voting members of council who were in attendance were Rod Daniels, Peter Pence and Brian Waller.
The June 14 was the first regular council meeting that Daniels had attended in several months, as he has been out of town on military duties.
"Each council member is aware that we meet the second Monday of every month," Koogler said June 14. "Had I known that we would not have enough members for a quorum I would have rescheduled the meeting.
