Highland County unemployment rate at 10.5 percent

Highland County's unemployment rate has continued to fall, according jobless numbers reported this week by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. 

 

The reported unemployment rate for November was 10.5 percent, which was down from the 11.7 percent reported for October. Highland County also moved down in its state unemployment ranking to eighth. In October Highland County had ranked with the seventh highest. 

 

The county with the highest rate continues to be Pike County, at 13.9 percent, although its rate had been at 15 percent in October. Pike is followed by Ottawa County at 11.9 percent, Scioto County at 11.5 percent, Meigs County at 11.3 percent, Clinton County at 11 percent, Morgan County at 10.8 percent, and Adams County at 10.8 percent. 

 

In surrounding areas, Brown County's rate is at 9.8 percent, Ross County is at 8.9 percent, and Fayette County is at 7.7 percent. 

 

The county with the lowest rate is Mercer at 4.9 percent.
