Highland County Farm Bureau attends state meeting

           Delegates from Highland County Farm Bureau joined more than 349 official delegates at the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation's (OFBF) 91st annual meeting in Cincinnati Dec. 2-4 to set policies charting the course of the organization for the new year. Members of the Highland County delegation included, left to right: Jim Faust of Hillsboro, Highland County State Trustee Craig Adams, Ron Caldwell of Leesburg. Dan Cowdrey of Hillsboro, Organization Director Janelle Mead of Washington Court House, and Andy Caldwell of Leesburg.

           The theme of the meeting was "Innovations Rooted in Tradition." OFBF is the largest general farm organization in the state with more than 235,000 member families.

           The delegates, elected to represent each of the 87 county Farm Bureaus in the state, adopted state and national policies which will continue to forge a partnership between farmers and consumers.

           Topics and speakers for the three-day meeting included: "If we don't do it who's to do it for us," Dr Jay Lehr; "Energy, Electricity ­ Now and Future," Jon Williams; "Ag Perspective 2010," Alan Brugler; "Food and Animal Issues," Terry Fleck; and Judy Loudenslager held a panel discussion.
