Highland County Democratic Party celebrates Dinah Phillips, plans annual picnic

On Sunday, July 19, we celebrated Dinah Phillips, our retiring chairperson of the Highland County Democratic Party. More than 100 people stopped by to congratulate Dinah.
Many thanks to Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss for emceeing the event.
Also, thank you to these folks for sharing stories of Dinah's career: Governor Ted Strickland, Judge Kevin Greer, Ohio Senator Bill Demora, Franklin County Judge David Leland, former chair of Adams County Democratic Party Linda Stepp, Steve Hunter, Bill Sims and Melanie Phillips (Dinah's daughter).
Also a big thank-you to this wonderful group of ladies that provided delicious refreshments: Mary Hamilton, Teresa Grimsley, Joyce Ford, Carol Gratsch, Emmy Selby, Jolene Walker, Jennifer West, Charlotte Harbutt, Carolyn Goins, Carol Kirkhart, Penny Kincaid, Bootsie Robison and Pam Limes.
It was a wonderful celebration.

Annual picnic Aug. 2
• Please join us Sunday, Aug. 2 for our annual picnic from 3:30-6 p.m. at the Hi-TEC Center, 1575 N. High Street, Hillsboro. This includes a free pork barbecue dinner. Meet fellow Democrats and non-partisan friends and learn about candidates for November election.
Featured speakers include Judge Jennifer Brunner, Ohio Supreme Court; Don Leonard, candidate for the 15th Congressional District; and John Kulewicz, candidate for Ohio attorney general. Other state and local candidates attending include Amy Wright, Brian Deer and Howard Zody. Former Gov. Ted Strickland will also be present with information from Sherrod Brown, candidate for the U.S.Senate.
