HCS board investigates 'charges/complaints' against employee

The Hillsboro City Schools board of Education met in executive session for nearly an hour Wednesday to discuss "investigation of charges/complaints against a public employee."
This is the second month in a row that the board has met regarding investigation/discipline issues against an employee.
During the board's regular monthly meeting Wednesday, the board entered into executive session at 7:20 p.m. and returned into regular session at 8:10 p.m. The five board members asked newly elected board members Terry Britton and Jerry Walker to join them in the session. Britton and Walker will be sworn in to serve on the board in January.
Hillsboro Superintendent Rick Earley said after the meeting that an investigation into an employee is ongoing, but he could not comment further. Earley would not say the position the employee holds with the district or if the complaints were brought by a student, parent or employee.
"Any allegations against a staff member will be investigated," Earley said. "The board has taken no action."
Earley said that the issue from October's meeting has been "resolved," but he could not give details regarding the resolution. The issue that was discussed Wednesday not has not yet been resolved, he said.
"Any time an allegation is made, a third party does an investigation," Earley said.
He specified that it is not a law enforcement investigation and is being conducted by a person who is not related to the district.
"We have to protect the integrity of the investigation," Earley said regarding his inability to make more specific comments.
In October, the board met for approximately 45 minutes in executive session to discuss the "discipline" of public employees. Following the meeting, Earley said that he could not elaborate on the situation regarding the employee, except to say that it was a staff member and not a faculty member.
