The Highland County Fair's 2011 Showman of Showmen competition was held Sept. 10.

4-H members compete in Showmanship to demonstrate how much they have learned and know about their species. The winner of each species then competes for the top honor of Showman of Showmen.

The competitors this year were as follows: Lauren Grimes with beef cattle; Tyler Davidson with dairy cattle; Marissa Humphries with dogs; Danielle Francis with goats; Kurstin Wilkin with horses; Evan Edenfield with poultry; Ethan Hawkins with rabbits; Kaylee Akers with sheep; and Cole Reveal with swine. All competitors have to show each animal to the best of their knowledge.

This year, the top honor was achieved by Ethan Hawkins. Lauren Grimes came in second place, and Kurstin Wilkin placed third.

All competitors did an admirable job and were commended for their efforts.[[In-content Ad]]
