Greenfield PD officer arrested, resigns

An officer with the Greenfield Police Department was arrested on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and handling a firearm while intoxicated Wednesday night, and he has subsequently resigned from his post. 

Greenfield Police Chief Tim Hester contacted the Highland County Press Thursday morning regarding the incident.

Patrolman Kyle Duff, 41, of Greenfield, was arrested by the Highland County Sheriff's Office just before 8 p.m. Wednesday. Duff's stepson, 21-year-old Tyler Anderson, was also arrested. 

Hester said that an officer from the GPD responded to the call as well, which was at a residence on the edge of Greenfield. 

"He was suspended and placed on administrative leave subsequent to his arrest," Hester said. "He has since resigned from the police department. As far as the PD is concerned, this matter is closed and he is no longer employed here. But he still has to face the criminal charges."

According to Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward, his department responded to the residence at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a "family disturbance."

  "The deputy talked with all parties involved and determined that there was probable cause for an arrest, and an arrest was made," Ward said.

Duff was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and handling a firearm while intoxicated. 

Anderson was charged with domestic violence. 

Both posted bond and were released. They are each scheduled for arraignment Friday in Highland County Court in Greenfield.
