Fran DeWine to visit Highland County Sept. 1

Fran DeWine, the wife of former U.S. Senator and current Ohio Attorney General candidate Mike DeWine, will be in Highland County Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Mrs. DeWine will be escorted on a brief tour of the county courthouse by Highland County Commissioner Tom Horst, according to a DeWine spokesman. She will be signing copies of her cookbook, "Fran DeWine's Family Favorites."
Fran and Mike DeWine have been married for over 42 years. They grew up together in Yellow Springs and now call Cedarville home. The former senator began his career as a county prosecutor. He also served in the Ohio Legislature and is a former Ohio lieutenant governor.
“In the U.S. Senate, I promoted the emerging DNA technology, establishing and expanding a truly national database for DNA, fingerprint, and ballistics information, so that violent offenders – no matter where they traveled – could be caught and prosecuted,” DeWine says. DeWine specifically targeted funds to Ohio’s crime lab – the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation – to keep our families safer.
DeWine, 63, is a graduate off Miami University and attended Ohio Northern Law School.
The DeWines are the parents of eight children: Patrick, Jill, Rebecca, John, Brian, Alice, Mark, and Anna.
Fran and Mike are now the grandparents of 13 grandchildren.
DeWine is running against incumbent Attorney General Richard Cordray.
"This is about leadership. It is about being the watchdog for our state," DeWine says. "It is about being its conscience. And, it is about making sure that we do all that we can to get Ohio back on track."
