DHL adds 300 jobs at cincy hub

-
Express shipper DHL Express said Monday it plans to hire 300 workers through July for its hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, according to bizjournals.com
"The 300 positions are mostly part-time in package sort, ground and ramp operations. The company said the jobs present possible opportunities for full-time employment, and part-time employees are eligible for DHL company benefits," according to the website. "Driving the hiring plans, a DHL official said, are 'significant positive trends in package volumes, coupled with a need to keep our hub operation adequately staffed for peak shipping periods.'
"DHL a year ago moved its U.S. air cargo and package sorting operations to the airport, southwest of Cincinnati in northern Kentucky. That followed a late 2008 announcement that DHL would close its hub in Wilmington, about 60 miles southwest of Columbus. That move resulted in thousands of job losses in Clinton County and surrounding areas, much of the cuts coming through Wilmington-based ABX Air Inc., whose largest customer is DHL," according to bizjournals.com.
