Daniels projected winner in GOP 17th Senate race
In one of the more hotly contested primary races Tuesday, State Rep. David Daniels, R-Greenfield, held an unofficial 822-voted lead over State Rep. Clyde Evans in the 17th Senate District Republican primary.
According to the Ohio Secretary of State's Office, Daniel collected 13,501 votes to Evans' 12,679 votes.
Many of the late returns were from Clinton County, where Daniels garnered 3,107 votes to 1,198 for Evans.
Due to term limits, both candidates were ineligible to run for their current seats. Sen. John Carey is the current 17th District senator.
If his lead holds, Daniels will face Democrat Justin Fallon in the November general election.
