Court news: Lakes sentenced to five years on second-degree burglary charges; Phillips pleads no contest to GSI

An area man was sentenced to five years in prison on burglary charges, and ordered to pay nearly $10,000 in restitution, while in a separate case, a Lynchburg man pleaded guilty to a charge of gross sexual imposition, in separate cases, this week in Highland County Common Pleas Court.
Albert Lakes pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, felonies of the second degree, Friday in Highland County Common Pleas Court.
Lakes had been indicted in December 2008 on the two charges of burglary, two counts of thefts, one count of theft of firearms, and one count of forgery.
He was sentenced to five years on each of the burglary charges, to be served concurrently to each other, but consecutively to all other charges.
He was also ordered to pay $9,853 in restitution to the victims.
Also Thursday, Darrell Phillips Jr., 46, pleaded no contest to one count of gross sexual imposition, a felony of the third degree.
According to court documents, Phillips was accused of committing the sexual act against a 7-year-old between June 2006 and November 2006.
The state has recommended that he be sentenced to three years in prison. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for March 17.
Phillips is represented by attorney Conrad Curren.
Additionally, in a separate case, an area man was sentenced to community control on drug trafficking charges.
Jeremy Faulconer, he had pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking, a felony of the fifth degree, and the aggravated trafficking count was dismissed.
On Thursday, in Highland County Common Pleas Court, he was sentenced to three years of community control.
The state was represented by the Highland County Prosecutor's Office.
