Congressman Taylor joins congressional Rural Health Caucus
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) today announced his membership in the Congressional Bipartisan Rural Health Caucus.
This caucus provides a forum for Members of Congress to discuss the unique issues facing rural healthcare providers and communities, learn from stakeholders and policy experts, and develop solutions to effectively meet the healthcare needs of rural Americans.
“A person's zip code should not determine their ability to access the healthcare they need,” said Congressman Taylor. “With increased travel distances, a shortage of providers in our region, insufficient infrastructure, and limited broadband for telehealth services, Buckeye families have struggled to access and afford life-changing care for far too long. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Congressional Bipartisan Rural Health Caucus to increase healthcare access in regions like mine and improve health outcomes for thousands of Ohioans.”
Background:
Out of Ohio’s 15 congressional districts, Ohio’s Second Congressional District (OH-02) experiences the lowest life expectancy, the highest rate of drug overdose, and the highest rate of chronic disease. Across America, rural areas only have 13.1 physicians per 10,000 people compared to 31.2 per 10,000 in urban areas, creating an acute healthcare access issue for rural families like those in southern Ohio.
On December 29, 2025, Congressman Taylor applauded the allocation of $202 million from President Trump’s Rural Health Transformation Program to the state of Ohio. Constituting the largest investment in rural healthcare in U.S. history, this program was established by President Trump under the Working Families Tax Cut Act to transform healthcare outcomes in rural regions. In Ohio, these funds will support Ohio’s multi-year plan to strengthen rural hospitals and clinics, expand access to primary and behavioral health services, modernize healthcare infrastructure, and improve health outcomes for rural families across the state.
Congressman Dave Taylor represents Ohio’s Second Congressional District, which includes Clermont, Clinton, Pike, Adams, Brown, Highland, Ross, Scioto, Pickaway, Hocking, Vinton, Jackson, Lawrence, Gallia, and Meigs counties, as well as part of Fayette County.
