Commissioners proclaim Supervised Visitation Awareness Month

Highland County Commissioners Gary Heaton, Shane Wilkin and Tom Horst signed a proclamation at their May 5 meeting for Supervised Visitation Awareness Month.
"May is the month designated to raise awareness of supervised visitation programs in local communities. The Family Advocacy Center provides a safe and family-friendly environment for families who have been affected by abuse, neglect, domestic violence or relationship and promote positive family values," said Melissa Wheaton, coordinator for the Family Advocacy Center. The staff of the Family Advocacy Center pledges to provide an environment and structure supportive of healthy family bonding experiences.
"What color signifies safety better than orange? Orange is a bright color used to encourage people to take notice. We want our community to see the orange ribbon and realize the need, impact, and value of the Family Advocacy Center. Please join us in placing an orange ribbon on your home, business, or person to show your support.
