The finance committee of the Hillsboro City Council has voted to recommend council permit Hillsboro city auditor Gary Lewis to prepare the city's tax budget with the end goal of having a carryover $450,000 into 2012.
Currently, the city has a projected deficit of approximately $269,000 by the end of 2011. Based on council's recommendation, a double-digit percentage cut will have to be made to the general fund.
It was said during the meeting that approximately $230,000 could be cut from the fire and police departments' budgets.
Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, July 12 for vote.[[In-content Ad]]
