Chillicothe VA Medical Center to host 3rd annual SpringFest May 4

The Chillicothe VA Medical Center is proud to announce the 3rd annual SpringFest to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention in our veteran community. 

This highly anticipated event will be held this Sunday, May 4 starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Chillicothe VA campus, located at 17273 state Route 104. This free community event will include free food, kids' activities, live local music and a robust car show.  

We will also be holding a vendor resource fair with nearly 30 community partners.

The Chillicothe VA Medical Center invites all veterans, their families, and community members to join us for a full day of camaraderie, entertainment, and gratitude.

The event will feature:

• SpringFest 5k: Starting at 11:30 am, runners make their way through the scenic VA campus, spanning over 300 acres, starting and finishing at Building 9. You may pre-register at www.eventbrite.com/e/chillicothe-vamcs-spring-fest-walkrunroll-registra…

• Live Music and Entertainment: Our local band line up will include community favorites Garage Fire, Peach Jam, Sugarloaf Shakedown, and Idle Tribe.

• Free Food and Refreshments: Our volunteer community will be slinging some of those barbecue backyard favorites, like burgers, hot dogs and much more. All free of charge to our guests.

• Veterans Resource Fair: Numerous organizations/VA services will be on-site to provide information and resources tailored to veterans' needs.

• Family-Friendly Activities: Fun activities for children and families, including games and crafts.

• 3rd Annual SpringFest Car Show:  Our car show is free entry and completely open to the public. Cars, trucks, motorcycles all welcome. You can pre-register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/chillicothe-va-medical-centers-spring-fest…

However, pre-registration is not required, and you can register at the event.

"Supporting the mental health and well-being of our Veterans is not just a priority, it's a moral obligation.”, said Jason Mehringer-Smith, Suicide Prevention Coordinator at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center.  

“Suicide prevention is a critical component of our mission, as we strive to ensure that every veteran receives the care and support they deserve. Together, we can make a difference by fostering a community of compassion, understanding, and proactive engagement. Our commitment to the mental health of veterans is unwavering, and we will continue to work tirelessly to provide the necessary resources and interventions to save lives and restore hope."

All events and activities are free of charge.  Guest parking will be available on site at Buildings 9 and 212.
