Bill to add judge to Adams County Common Pleas Court sent to Ohio governor
The Ohio General Assembly last week approved Senate Bill 158, legislation that was amended to include House Bill 283, which will add a judge to the Adams County Common Pleas Court, announced bill joint sponsor, State Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland).
The bill will establish two divisions within Adams County common pleas court — one to handle civil, criminal, and domestic relations cases and another to oversee probate and juvenile cases.
Adams County is one of four Ohio counties that only has one judge serving the entire county.
“I am grateful for my colleagues’ support of this critical legislation,” said Schmidt. “I am confident that by adding another judge to the Adams County common pleas court, we will ensure our children receive the care and protection they deserve.”
Senate Bill 158 now awaits a signature from the governor.
