Benches removed from county courthouse lawn

Lead Summary

Workers removed two park benches from outside the Highland County Courthouse Tuesday morning.
Highland County Commissioner Tom Horst recently asked Highland County Engineer Dean Otworth to have his department remove the benches, which are owned by the city of Hillsboro, partly because of their poor condition.
County officials also have had discussions about ongoing loitering around the benches.
The engineer's office moved the benches to the playground area at Liberty Park off North High Street.
