Batavia Post investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Clermont County

BATAVIA – The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred today, Aug. 27, at approximately 4:10 a.m., on state Route 32 in Union Township, Clermont County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2020 Kia Sportage, operated by Jessica Ackley, 37, Amelia, was traveling west on state Route 32. A pedestrian, Christopher Latchford, 40, Mount Orab, was walking in the roadway on state Route 32. The Kia struck Latchford in the roadway on state Route 32.

Latchford succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

Ackley was not injured from the crash.

The roadway was temporarily closed during the crash investigation but has since reopened. The crash remains under investigation by the Batavia Post.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Union Township Police Department, Union Township Fire Department & EMS, Clermont County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Tarvin Auto Service.
