Batavia OSHP Post investigating fatal hit-skip crash

The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal hit-skip crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred on May 25 at approximately 12:20 a.m., on Old State Route 74 at Olive Branch Cemetery Road, Batavia Township, Clermont County.

The preliminary investigation revealed an unresponsive pedestrian, identified as Colton S. Dearing, 28, Amelia, was located on Old State Route 74. Dearing was struck by an unidentified vehicle.

Dearing was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by The Clermont County Sheriff's Department, Central Joint Fire-EMS, and the Clermont County Coroner's Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Batavia Post.

This is an active and open investigation, and the patrol is seeking the public's assistance. Anyone who witnessed or has information regarding the crash is encouraged to contact the Batavia Post at (513) 732-1510.
