Arrests made in Vinton County homicide

On Monday, Nov. 7, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office in McArthur. Assistance was requested in apprehending suspects in an Oct. 7, 2011, homicide that took place in Vinton County, just outside of Laurelville, which is near the Hocking County line.
Investigators with the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office, along with investigators with the State of Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office had been conducting an investigation since that time, after a fire was reported and a 55-year-old man was found deceased in Vinton County.
The investigation developed leads to two former Hocking County residents, who have been residing in Highland County since around July, 2011.
Arrested for charges of aggravated murder, aggravated arson, and aggravated burglary, was Robert W. Schall, 47, of Paint Township. Also arrested for complicity to aggravated murder, complicity to aggravated arson, and complicity to aggravated burglary, was Celena J. Danner, 28, also of Paint Township. Both subjects were taken into custody by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office without incident during the evening hours of Nov.7.
A search warrant was also conducted at the Paint Township residence of Schall and Danner, by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, Vinton County Sheriff’s Office, and Fire Marshal’s Office, where additional evidence relating to the crime was discovered. All items of evidence were turned over to the investigators.
Schall and Danner will be held at the Highland County Justice Center pending transfer to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail. Assistance was also provided by Highland County Children Services regarding the case.[[In-content Ad]]
