Appeals court upholds attempted murder conviction of Fayette County man

The Twelfth District Court of Appeals has affirmed the convictions of a Fayette County Man, Roger D. McGraw, for attempted murder, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, theft of a motor vehicle, violation of a protection order, tampering with evidence, and domestic violence.

According to a release from the court, the charges stemmed from an attack on a woman and her boyfriend, wherein McGraw entered the woman's residence, stabbed both victims, took his ex-wife's vehicle and abandoned it in a dead-end alley.

On appeal, McGraw argued that the state failed to prove (1) he intended to kill the victims, and (2) he intended to permanently steal the vehicle.

Writing for a unanimous court, Judge H.J. Bressler found that McGraw's convictions were supported by the evidence. Presiding Judge William W. Young and Judge Robert A. Hendrickson concurred in Judge Bressler's opinion.

The Twelfth District Court of Appeals has affirmed the convictions of Roger D. McGraw.
