Adena campaign raises nearly $62,000 in recognition of four doctors who touched the lives of thousands

Chillicothe, OH (June 3, 2010) — Gifts and pledges in the amount of $61,926 were contributed to the Adena Health Foundation in honor of Dr. Jennifer Allen and Dr. Stephen Fleischer and the late Dr. Lowell Smith and Dr. David Ater, who became beloved medical care providers in south-central Ohio.
Funds raised in the campaign honoring the four, which closed at the end of May, will be used for equipment, technology, education and outreach, and new initiatives for patient health and well-being at the new Adena Women and Children’s Center.
Drs. Fleischer and Smith were the founders of the first pediatrics practice in Chillicothe in 1955 and began a legacy of caring and compassion that continues today at Adena Health System.
Dr. Ater joined the Smith & Fleischer practice in 1968 and was dedicated to children and the community, while Dr. Allen joined the practice in 1980 and recently championed the creation of a Level II nursery in the new Women’s and Children’s Center at Adena.
All four became legendary among the patients they served, touching the lives of tens of thousands of people in southern Ohio.
Although the campaign has ended, contributions will continue to be accepted in honor of these physicians, said Ralph Metzger, the foundation’s executive director.[[In-content Ad]]
