An Adams County deputy is recovering in the hospital after being shot while responding to a call in West Union on Thursday night. The suspect was shot and hospitalized as well.

Deputies responded to the scene of the shooting on Hope Lane in West Union, until around 4:30 a.m. Friday.

According to officials, deputies were responding to a report of a mental health-related incident around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, the suspect opened fire, hitting the deputy.
