3 Highland County teens injured in crash
Three Highland County teens were injured in a crash over the weekend, that left at least one 16-year-old with serious injuries.
According to the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a silver Saturn carrying three 16-year-olds was traveling on Certier Road off state Route 131. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to strike a culvert, and then two trees.
The OSHP says that a 16-year-old girl in the back seat suffered serious injuries, and was transported to Children's Hospital by CareFlight.
A second 16-year-old girl, and the 16-year-old male driver, suffered minor injuries. They were treated and released from Highland District Hospital.
The Post said the driver was wearing a seatbelt, but the passengers were not, and that speed was possibly a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
