2 people running for 3 open seats on Greenfield council

Two Greenfield residents have filed to run for three open seats on the village council, and according to the Highland County Board of Elections, the council will make an appointment to fill the vacant seat. 

The last day to file for the November general election was Aug. 10. The board of elections met Monday morning and certified candidates for the ballot. 

According to the certified names, incumbent Robert Bergstrom has filed for re-election to the Greenfield Village Council, and Chris Borreson has also filed to run. Incumbent council members Harvey Everhart and William Redenbaugh have not filed for re-election. 

Since there are three open seats and two members, according to Debbie Craycraft, Director of the Highland County Board of Elections, she believes that "at the end of the term of the people who are on council now - which would be in December - the council would appoint someone." 

Greenfield Law Director Brian Zets agreed with the board of elections and said council would fill that vacancy.

• Drew Hastings will face John Levo in the race for Mayor of Hillsboro. 

• Three candidates: Danny Daulton, George Phillips Jr. and Richard Tolle, are on the ballot in the race for Mayor of Leesburg. 

• Roger Shaffer and Robbie Wallace will face each other in the race for Mayor of Lynchburg.

• Jeremy Kibbey and Matthew Miller will face each other in the race for Mayor of Highland.

• Brushcreek Township, cemetery renewal, 1.0 mills for five years. 

• Jackson Township, fire renewal, 1.5 mills for five years. 

• Liberty Township, fire replacement, 1.8 mills for five yeas. 

• Marshall Township, cemetery renewal, .25 mills for five years. 

• New Market Township, cemetery replacement, .5 mills for five years. 

• Union Township, cemetery renewal, .5 mills for five years.
