Summer Reading Adventure has been great! We have finished our Library camp. We had a daily average of 40 children attend camp. We have 523 signed up at this time for our summer reading adventure and it’s not too late.
Marvin and Pat Hakes of HIllsboro are celebrating 50 years of marriage. The couple was united in marriage at the Hillsboro Church of Christ on July 29, 1960. They were married by the late Dr. Paul Jones.
The Sons of the American Revolution, along with members of the Higgins family will honor William Higgins, a Highland County Revolutionary War soldier who is buried in Prospect Cemetery, during a graveside ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31.

While weather was nearly perfect over the Fourth of July weekend, temperatures were certainly on the rise this past week. Several consecutive days of 90-plus degree temperatures made tasks such as baling hay and straw a bit more difficult. Believe it or not, I’ve already heard some people worrying about soil conditions getting a bit too dry. That sentiment didn’t seem possible as recently as a month ago.
Food festival slated for July 26 Join us on Monday, July 26, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., for a food festival presented by Gordon Foods. Gordon is our newest food supplier, and they have lots of delicious treats in store.
T.J. and Angie (Grate) Crowder of Greenfield are announcing the birth of their daughter, Kelsie Mae Crowder, on June 17, 2010 at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Kelsie weighed 8 lbs., 2.7 oz., and was 19 1/2 inches long.
