"Caring. Close to Home" is a fitting tagline for Highland District Hospital. It seems just as fitting for a 16-year volunteer who just chalked up 1,000 volunteer hours.

Last week certainly had a more typical look and feel of fall weather with the cooler, damp, and windy conditions.  The wind certainly removed most of the remaining leaves on the trees. As I have said on many occasions before, I am definitely not a big fan of the shorter daylight hours that this time of year brings. Maybe it wouldn’t seem so bad this year if the Bengals were having a better season!

Mini-Health Fair and Living Will Checkup
    The Morgan-Bodenhamer Senior Center (Highland County Senior Center), in partnership with Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley and HealthSource of Ohio, present a mini-health fair on Thursday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Lynchburg is busy preparing for its annual Village Christmas. This marks the 18th year for the event, which is held the second weekend in December (Dec. 10-11).

The SATH (Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped) organization has the perfect holiday gift.

Noreen's School of Dance will host Santa's open house from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4.

Santa Claus is coming to town Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Leesburg American Legion Post 568. He will be bringing sacks of candy with him for area children, from 6-8 p.m. For more information contact Jim Crabtree at (937) 780-6760.

Cabin Creek Primitives is running a Thanksgiving Day only special.

The Edgewood Nursing Home in Greenfield invited members of the New Petersburg Social Civic Club to be guests for their November meeting.

The Greenfield Historical Society’s Holiday Tour of Homes will be held this year on Sunday, Dec. 5 from noon-5 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Home Building and Loan beginning Nov. 22 in Greenfield, or on the day of the tour at the Grain and Hay Building, Jefferson St. and McArthur Way,Greenfield, and at each home.

Saturday night supper party this weekend
    Join us on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 5-9 p.m. for a Saturday night supper party. A dinner of pork chops, whipped potatoes & gravy, green beans, bread & butter, beverage and dessert will be served from 5-5:45 p.m., followed by dancing, Euchre, pool and Corn Hole.  Live Country Music will be provided by the Over the Hill Gang. Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door.
