Current recommendations are that every woman over the age of 40 receives an annual mammogram to assist in detecting breast cancer early. Thanks to a generous grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Mercy Hospitals, women in the Highland County area now have the opportunity to receive a mammogram at no cost. On Friday, March 11, Mercy Hospital's mobile unit will be providing mammogram screenings at the Highland County Health Department from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance will be billed. However, patients will not be responsible for any deductibles, co-pays, or out-of-pocket expenses. Uninsured patients are also eligible to receive a mammogram.
For more information or to make an appointment for a mammogram, contact the Highland County Health Department at (937) 393-1941.[[In-content Ad]]
